Susie Joe Wedding

Wedding photography pricing

I like to keep things simple. One wedding photography package, covering the whole day, with a few optional extras if you fancy them.

No bronze, silver or gold packages to decipher, no trying to work out how many hours you’ll need, and no choosing between getting-ready photos and the dancefloor. It’s all included.

My approach is to focus on making great photographs and giving you a proper record of your wedding, from the nervous excitement of getting ready to the questionable dance moves later on.

Full-day wedding photography: £1,900. Here’s what you get.

All-day coverage

No time restrictions. I’m not going to make you pay extra if the best man rambles on for an hour or the first dance happens later than expected (as it often does).

And I’m not going to disappear immediately after the first dance either. The party is part of the wedding day, and some of the best photos happen when the table wine has kicked in, the ties are coming off and uncle Jim is busting out his questionable dance moves.

I’ll always stay for at least an hour after the first dance, and often longer. There’s no need to watch the clock.

Unlimited images

I don’t put an arbitrary limit on how many photos you receive. Every image that makes the final edit is yours, whether that’s a big emotional moment, a ridiculous candid or a photo of your mate looking inexplicably pleased with himself.

Some images will get the black-and-white treatment if I think they work better that way, but you’ll always get the colour version too. I’m not going to make you choose between the two.

I’ve got some links to full galleries just a little further down this page.

A few photos before the rest

I know the wait to see your wedding photos can feel like an eternity. That’s why I aim to send over a little preview of around 20–30 images within a week of your wedding.

The full gallery usually follows within 4–6 weeks. Plenty of time to relive the day, but not so long that you’ve forgotten what happened.

A highlights slideshow

Getting hundreds of photos all in one go can be a little overwhelming. So, alongside your full gallery, I’ll put together a highlights slideshow featuring some of my favourite images from the day.

Think of it as the highlights reel before you disappear down the rabbit hole of looking through every single photo. Several times. For the rest of your lives.

Travel

I include the first 100 miles of travel in your package, calculated using the actual mileage for the return journey from my address in Bristol to your venue.

Beyond that, additional mileage is charged at 55p per mile. For London weddings, there’s a flat £100 supplement to cover the extra travel costs.

If you’re getting married further afield, just let me know where and I’ll confirm any travel costs before you book.

Your own online gallery

I’ve been doing this long enough to remember when digital wedding photos came on a CD. Thankfully, we’ve moved on a bit.

Your photos will be delivered in a private online gallery, accessible from anywhere in the world. You can download the high-resolution files, order prints and frames, and share the gallery with friends and family.

You can even hide the photos of that guest you wish you hadn’t invited. I’m not here to judge.

Let’s have a chat first

I’d love to jump on a video call before the wedding so you can check I’m not too weird and bombard me with any questions you might have. It’s also a chance to talk through your plans and make sure we’re a good fit.

If you’re local to Bristol, even better. Let’s meet for a coffee.

Being comfortable around your photographer makes a difference. You’re going to be spending quite a lot of the day with me, after all.

Optional Extras

The main photography package is all most couples need. But if you fancy adding something extra, here are a few options. No pressure, no compulsory upgrades.

Film photography

Fancy a bit of film? For the romantics, the nostalgia enthusiasts, and anyone who thinks the world could do with a little more grain.

35mm and medium format (120) film have a look and feel all of their own. The colours, the grain, the occasional happy accident. It’s a lovely way to add something a little different to your wedding photos, with images that feel like they could have been found in a shoebox in your grandparents’ loft (in a good way).

Whether you’re a proper film nerd or just fancy something a little less polished and a little more nostalgic, I can bring a film camera along and see what happens.

Film is charged at £50 per roll, including developing and scanning.

Second photographer — £600

Sometimes, even I have to admit that being in two places at once would be quite useful.

If you’re getting ready in different locations, want extra coverage of the ceremony, or would like more candid photos of your guests while I’m busy with portraits and group shots, a second photographer can make a real difference.

They can photograph one side of the wedding party getting ready while I cover the other, capture a different angle of the ceremony, or document all the things happening elsewhere while I’m occupied.

It’s not essential for every wedding, but for the right plans, it’s a really useful addition.

Engagement shoot — £300

Essentially, a dedicated couples portrait session, without the wedding-day schedule and the pressure of having 100 people waiting for you.

We can choose the location, pick a time with lovely light, and spend a full hour taking photos without having to worry about missing the canapés.

Most of us aren’t professional models (thankfully, or I’d have to find another job), and having your photo taken can feel a bit daunting. An engagement shoot is a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day, and to see how you look in photos without having to wait until after the wedding.

Wedding albums — from £375

Please don’t let your wedding photos exist solely in the digital world, occasionally viewed on a laptop between emails.

There’s something lovely about seeing your favourite images printed properly. You notice the little details, the expressions, the moments you might have missed. And unlike a screen, a print doesn’t need charging.

The albums I offer are made using fine-art matte papers and high-quality inkjet printing. Each spread is printed individually, inspected, creased and bound by hand. They’re designed to be handled, passed around and looked through for years to come.

If you’re going to invest in one extra, this would be my personal favourite. Not because you need to buy one, but because I think photographs deserve to be seen.

Fancy some video, too?

Photography is magic stuff. It can freeze a moment in time, letting you print it onto something physical and hold it in your hands. Mad, really.

Its biggest drawback, of course, is that it can’t capture sound. And I completely understand why you might want a record of the ceremony, the speeches, or the entire dancefloor going bananas to Darude’s Sandstorm.

For most couples wanting a proper wedding film, I’d recommend hiring a dedicated videographer. They’re specialists in capturing moving images and sound, with the equipment and experience to create something really polished.

But if that’s not in the budget, or you’d prefer something a little different, I’ve got a few alternatives.

The “Dad Cam” highlight film — £350

Remember when every family had a camcorder, and the resulting footage looked like it had been filmed during a minor earthquake? That sort of thing. Except on purpose.

I’ll shoot clips throughout your wedding day using authentic early-2000s handheld camcorders, then edit them together into a five-minute highlight film set to music.

It’s lighthearted, intentionally retro, and full of character. Less glossy cinematic masterpiece, more the best home movie you’ve ever seen. You’ll also receive all the unedited raw clips to keep.

Perfect if you want a little moving record of the day without the expense or formality of a full wedding film.

Full ceremony and speeches — £495

Some moments deserve to be heard as well as seen.

You can ask guests to film the speeches on their phones, of course, but the audio can be muffled, too quiet, or ruined by the acoustics of the room. And it’s a bit of a gamble whether anyone remembers to press record in the first place.

For this option, I set up a discreet, high-definition camera on a static tripod to capture your full ceremony and speeches, with dedicated audio recorders to capture clear sound.

You’ll receive separate videos of the ceremony and speeches, filmed in full, so you can revisit the important words, the nervous laughter, the emotional bits and whatever your best mate thought was an appropriate joke in front of your entire family.

Full-day hybrid video — £995

Want moving footage throughout the day, but prefer a clean, modern look over the Dad Cam’s lo-fi aesthetic?

I can bring along an experienced associate videographer to work alongside me. While I concentrate on the photography, they focus on capturing moving images, from the preparations through to the party.

The result is a five-minute highlight film set to music, capturing the atmosphere, people and little moments that make your wedding yours.

It’s a good middle ground if you’d like a more conventional wedding film without booking a separate full photography and videography team.

A few practical bits

Booking your date

To secure your date, I’ll need a signed electronic contract and a £500 booking fee. Once both are sorted, the date is yours.

The remaining balance is due four weeks before your wedding. If you would prefer to pay in instalments – no problem!

When will I get my photos?

I aim to send 20–30 preview images within a week of the wedding, with your full gallery usually ready within 4–6 weeks.

If your wedding is out of peak season – it can sometimes be even sooner.

What if we want something extra?

Albums, engagement shoots, film and video are all optional. You can choose whatever suits your plans and budget, and there’s absolutely no obligation to add anything to the main photography package. If you can’t quite decide now – no problem! We can always add them at a later date.

Let’s talk about your wedding

If you’ve had a look through my work and think we might be a good fit, I’d love to hear what you’re planning.

Tell me a little about your wedding, where it’s happening and what sort of day you’re putting together. No need to have every detail figured out yet. We can have a chat, see if I’m available, and go from there.
