Some weddings are cold, some are warm, and then there are weddings like this— where it felt at times like it was taking place on the surface of the sun. But despite the soaring temperatures, this day was nothing short of magical.
When I arrived in Portugal to capture this wedding, I knew it would be something special. Set in the rolling green hills of North Portugal, the venue was breathtaking. Vineyards stretched into the distance, golden sunlight bathed the landscape, and a light breeze occasionally rustled through the olive trees. It was the perfect setting for a wedding.
The ceremony took place in a small, charming Portuguese church. Its size only added to the intimacy, with whitewashed walls, rustic wooden pews, and the scent of sun-warmed stone enhancing the atmosphere. One of the most memorable moments was when the priest surprised everyone by picking up a guitar and playing during the ceremony—an unexpected and beautiful touch.
After a heartfelt confetti-filled exit, guests made their way to the drinks reception. Given the high temperatures, the pool quickly became a popular spot, with many cooling off their feet while enjoying a glass of crisp vinho verde.
As the sun set behind the hills, the celebrations continued with dancing under twinkling lights, incredible Portuguese cuisine, and laughter that carried through the night. This wedding wasn’t just about two people coming together; it was a true celebration of love, family, and unforgettable moments.
To the couple—thank you for letting me capture your incredible day. It was an honor to witness such a joyful occasion.
If you’re planning a destination wedding in Portugal or beyond, I’d love to be there to document it. And next time, I’ll be sure to bring extra suncream!
